Vietnamese will send a football team to the Merdeka Cup in Malaysia.
Vietnam Football Federation general secretary Tran Quoc Tuan said the Vietnamese under-23 team would play alongside some players from the national team at the Merdeka Cup as per the invite of the Malaysian Football Federation.
Vietnamese football made its first impression on the international sports map when South Vietnam won the Merdeka Cup in 1966.
The team, with former player Pham Huynh Tam Lang and German coach Karl Heinz Weigang, defeated Myanmar 1-0 in the final.
