A Vietnamese miner was killed Sunday in a land collapse at a dumping ground in Thai Nguyen Province which buried the bulldozer he was driving.
Preliminary investigations have identified the victim as Lai Ngoc Kinh, 41, a bulldozer driver for the Nui Hong Coal Company, an arm of state coal mining group Vinacomin.
Kinh was leveling the dumping ground when the ground sank and he fell dozens of meters into a flooded area and died as being trapped in the vehicle.
It happened at a time when rescuers were still looking for five victims buried in a similar accident last week.
Local residents said they had noticed long, deep cracks at the dumping ground before the accident.
The local police are investigating.
Five people were buried in a landslide in the province April 15.
Another man was killed and his wife was injured as the landslide at the Thai Nguyen Iron and Steel Company's dumping ground covered 10 locals' houses.
