A company under the defense ministry Wednesday launched the building of a ship that will be the most advanced one used by the Vietnamese marine police.
The DN 2000 ship, which is designed for patrols over Vietnam's sea and islands and rescue missions, will be equipped with a helipad, leaders of the Song Thu Company said at the keel-laying ceremony in the central city of Da Nang.
It can withstand the ninth level strength of waves and the 12th level strength of winds, they said, adding that it can operate at sea for 50 days consecutive days. Its operation scope can cover 5,000 sea miles.
With the length of 90 meters and width of 14 meters, the ship can also tug ships of 2,200 DWT (dead weight tons).
Song Thu Company belongs to the General Department of Defense Ministry Industry under the Ministry of Defense.
