Nhat Tan Bridge
Work finished on Nhat Tan Bridge, Hanoi’s longest bridge over the Red River, on Tuesday.
The 8.9-kilometer, eight lane bridge will link the city center with industrial parks in the north.
It will also shorten the distance from Hanoi’s downtown to Noi Bai International Airport.
The project was funded with an investment of VND13.626 trillion (US$646 million) from the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) and the Vietnamese government.
The bridge is scheduled to open to traffic this October.
Work on the bridge in Dong Anh District started in 2009, and was scheduled for completion in February 2012.
However, it wasn't until March 2012, that Hanoi authorities acquired and cleared land for the road leading to the bridge, and deadline was pushed back to 2014.
