A 60-year-old woman and a two-year-old boy were killed when a car crashed into them in a street of Hanoi on Thursday.
Dao Thai Gai, a housekeeper for a married couple, was carrying their son Le Minh Kiet along Hong Ha Street at around 4.30 p.m. when a taxi smashed into them, throwing them against a wall.
Gai died on the spot. Kiet was seriously wounded. He was rushed to hospital but succumbed to his injuries at around 4 a.m. Friday.
The driver got out of the car and fled the scene immediately, but he turned himself into police early Friday morning.
The police of Hoan Kiem District said Nguyen Quang Tuan has been detained for investigation into the fatal crash.
Tuan was working for a parking lot and "deliberately drove a car without its owner's consent," the police said.
Tuan doesn't have a driving license, according to the police.
