A railway barrier guard in the central province of Quang Binh was killed Wednesday after a train dragged her for ten meters.

Phan Thi Hai, 45, was opening a railway barrier to allow the train to pass. But it came so fast that it struck the barrier which, in turn, knocked Hai to the ground. She was dragged for around 10 meters and died on the spot.

Also on Wednesday, parts of the north-south railway in the central province of Quang Tri were paralyzed after a container truck crashed into a set of railway barriers and lied across the rail.

The crash with the northbound truck damaged 30 meters of the barriers and 25 meters of the railway.

Do The Minh, the 31-year-old assistant driver, was severely injured while the driver was safe.

Police are investigating the cause of the accident.
