Police in southern Vietnam are investigating a case in which a woman allegedly beat up and dunked her husband in a pond before tying him to a tree for hours with help from her family.
Dao Van Loi, 43, is in hospital in Long An Province days after he was rushed there with injuries to his neck, back and both wrists, doctors said Tuesday.
He was rescued by some militiamen Friday evening hours after being tied to a tree in front of his house, the police said.
Loi told the police he had been discussing with his wife Nguyen Thi Phuong Friday how to divide their properties ahead of their divorce in court a few days later.
The discussion rapidly became an argument, and Phuong called her sister, brother, and brother in-law, and they wrestled Loi to the floor and beat him up.
The four then dropped him into a nearby pond, fished him out of the water a while later, and tied him up.
Loi’s neighbors reported to local militiamen who arrived to rescue him.
