A woman in the southern province of Binh Phuoc burned to death on Friday when her motorbike carrying a fuel can was hit by another speeding bike, VnExpress reported on the same day.
Nguyen Thi Hue, 35, a Dong Phu District resident, drove her bike to a gas station near her house, buying four liters at 10 a.m.
She was crossing the street when Pham Van Binh, 40, collided with her.
The collision made them and their motorbikes fell onto the street, as well as made the gasoline flow out of the can, causing both vehicles to catch fire, according to Lao Dong newspaper.
Despite the efforts of several local people extinguish the blaze, Hue died in the fire.
Binh was rushed into the province's general hospital with severe burns.
The two vehicles were completely destroyed.
Luu Dinh Dan, Hue's father, told VnExpress that his daughter's family situation had been difficult.
Her husband abandoned her and the couple's two children, forcing Hue to work at a local rubber plantation to support her kids, he said.
Police are investigating further.
