A court in the Central Highlands province of Kon Tum on Tuesday sentenced a local woman to two years in jail for beating her husband to death after he hit her for drinking too much.
Y Thuan, 20, was found guilty of manslaughter, almost half a year after the death of her 35-year-old husband.
According to an indictment heard at the court, Thuan and her husband Y Nam were drinking together at home on the night of September 16. After a while, Nam noticed that his wife was drunk and told her to stop drinking.
However, the wife kept drinking. The husband slapped her and strangled her.
The wife managed to free herself from his grips. She then grabbed a wood stick and hit him in the head. The husband then slapped her twice.
Thuan left the house for a while and when she returned, she saw her husband on the floor.
Thinking that he was sleeping, she covered his body with a blanket.
Hours later in the next morning the wife realized that he had died.
