Some hotel owners have lodged complaints against a night club in the beach city of Vung Tau for causing too much noise and affecting their business.
Vung Tau police said they received some complaints from the hotels near the beer club named Ship on Hoang Hoa Tham Street. According to the complaints, the loud noise from the club had become “unbearable."
They said the club opened very late and the noise coming from loud music and fights really bothered them.
A hotel owner said most of his guests were foreigners who came to Vung Tau hoping to have some relaxation, but they could not stand the noise from the club.
Many customers planned to stay at the hotel for a long time, but then they changed their mind after only one night, he said.
Another hotel owner claimed the number of bookings at his hotel dropped sharply by around half over the past year after the beer club came into operation.
He said the main reason is the noise caused by the beer club’s drunken customers who usually caught in violent fights.
Bui Ba Viet, chief of Vung Tau’s Culture and Information Office, told Thanh Nien that the local authorities could not fine the beer club for causing noise because they did not know how to measure noise levels.
They only fined the club VND30 million (US$1,344) for not closing when it was too late, he said.
