Police in the Mekong Delta province of Ca Mau have announced that a 62-year-old man abandoned by his younger lover died of an overdose of male virility drugs.
Nguyen Truong Giang, chief police of Tan Bang Commune in the province’s Thoi Binh District said that police returned the body of Nguyen Van Tang to his family.
Lao Dong newspaper reported that the case occurred on December 21, when Tang took a woman 20 years his junior (identified only as T) to the Vi Ngoc guesthouse.
After a while, T ran out shouting that the man had died,
She reportedly hopped onto a xe om (motorbike taxi) to drive away, police said.
The guesthouse receptionist said the duo rented a room at around 11AM.
The receptionist claimed Tang had gone out to his motorbike to get something after they rented the room.
About 1:30PM, T ran out into the lobby, buttoning her shirt.
She reportedly asked the others to take the man to the hospital before leaving in a hurry, according to the receptionist who asked to remain anonymous.
“I thought she was kidding before I entered to the room and found Tang in critical condition,” he said.
The guesthouse staff took him to a nearby medical station and reported his condition to the police.
Police found three tablets of an unidentified virility drug and a condom in his motorbike.
Giang, the commune police chief, said they dropped the case after Tang’s family did not request an autopsy and forensic investigators failed to detect any signs of foul play.
