The Hanoi police are investigating a complaint by a man that he was stabbed by a business executive when he went to the latter's house to demand repayment of a debt, Tuoi Tre newspaper reported Tuesday.

Nguyen Tien Phong, 33, an employee of Hoang Nhat Company based in Hai Phong city, said he called on Dang Thuong Quan, 50, director of Vinashin Construction and Investment One-Member Limited Company, on August 11 to ask for VND300 million (US$14,300) that Quan owed his company.

Quan not only refused to pay, as he had done several times earlier, but also stabbed him in the head and arms with a knife.

Phong was hospitalized for treatment.

Vinashin Construction is a subsidiary of giant state shipbuilder Vietnam Shipbuilding Industry Group (Vinashin).
