Police in the northern province of Quang Ninh Friday arrested a
director and an office head for embezzling nearly VND2 billion (US$105,000) at a
subsidiary of Vietnam's top coal producer.
Quang Hanh Coal Company director Nguyen Xuan Dung, office head
Tran Huy Hiep, and other officials from the firm, which operates under state-run
coal company Vinacomin, allegedly coordinated with the Thanh Dat Trade and Job
Services Company to forge fake labor contracts during the first seven months of
2009.
Quang Hanh Coal Company's officials also made counterfeit labor
contracts, working time sheets and salary payments for 233 employees. They then
stole the allotted money, according to investigators.
Last month, Quang Ninh police arrested Thanh Dat Company director
Dang Thi Xoa and her assistant Do Van Tan.
The police also suspended Quang Hanh's Administration Department
head Nguyen Van Hung and his deputy Pham Van Hoc for the same reason.
Police are continuing their investigation into the case.
