Seven women sold to Chinese brothels were brought back to Vietnam Sunday when Chinese police responded to a request for help from their Vietnamese counterparts.
The women arrived at the Dong Hung border gate in Quang Ninh Province at 4 p.m.
Quang Ninh police asked Chinese police to help rescue 22 women early this month. The women had been sold to brothels in China, according to police. Chinese police said they are looking for the other 15.
The women were cheated by people who said they would take them on tours of Guangxi, China. They were brought to Guangdong where they were forced to work as prostitutes since last summer.
Vietnamese police were notified of the problem after one of the women from the north-central province of Nghe An managed to call home from a customer's cell phone and gave authorities the brothel's address.
