A 24-year-old Vietnamese woman was repatriated Tuesday after being trafficked to China two weeks earlier.
The woman, identified only as Hua Thi C of Hai Phong, had moved to Quang Ninh Province with an unidentified man who promised to get her a well-paying job.
Her family tried to contact her but was unable to for several days, and feared she might have been smuggled to China.
On August 10 they reported her missing to the border guard in Mong Cai.
C, who had indeed been trafficked to China, managed to escape and took refuge with a Chinese family in Guangxi’s Dongfeng city.
The kindly family reported to the Chinese border guard, who then coordinated with their Vietnamese counterparts to send her back home.
