A Vietnamese woman and her two young daughters were killed in a fire that broke out in their house in western Malaysia last week, VnExpress reported Monday.
Huynh Thi Ngoc Thao, 30, was found dead with five-year-old Yap Siew Yee and six-year-old Yap Siew Yoon in her arms after firefighters put out the blaze at her home in Seri Kembangan, Selangor state, the newswire quoted the New Straits Times as saying.
Thao's Malaysian husband, 43-year-old Yap Yao Chong, was seriously injured.
Thao's younger sister Lam Thi Bich Phuong and another person were also in the house when the fire started at 2.30 a.m., but they managed to escape.
According to Mohamad Sani Harul, director of Selangor's center for rescue and firefighting, it took just 12 minutes to put out the fire, but by then the house and the one next to it were destroyed.
Neighbors said they had heard the couple argue before the fire, but did not know about what.
Authorities are investigating.
