A nine-month-old baby girl was severely wounded after a three-year-old boy, her uncle, accidentally shot her with a homemade gun in the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong on Thursday.
The parents of the girl reportedly left her at home with the boy before going to work in a field nearby.
The boy then picked up a gun that Hau Van Thanh, the girl's father, had made for hunting. He accidentally pulled the trigger.
When the girl's parents heard a gunshot sound, they rushed back home and found their baby bleeding heavily.
She was rushed to Lam Dong General Hospital, where doctors managed to remove four bullets from her right leg.
Doctors said there are still four bullets in her abdomen, chest and left leg, but they said another surgical procedure could not be carried out immediately, given her poor health.
The baby girl is now under intensive care.
The boy was not hurt in the incident.
