Police in central Vietnam Sunday detained three teenagers belonging to a gang that used needles used by drug addicts to scare and rob locals.

They have suggested that the boys, one 16 and two others 15 years old, be charged with criminal offenses, news website VietNamNet reported.

The teenagers were arrested in Quang Nam Province on Thursday, December 1.

On November 30, the boys had injected a girl studying in the 12th grade and forced other students with her to give money, saying that the syringe was HIV infected.

The boys told the police that they had picked syringes used by drug addicts at a local park and used them as a weapon to rob many people visiting the park.

In one month from October to November, police in Quang Ngai arrested nearly 20 drug addicts who used their own syringes to threaten people in around 100 robberies.
