Police in the Central Highlands province of Kon Tum have arrested three teenagers who used knives and an iron rake to viciously attack local police officers at a karaoke parlor the night of March 10.

Vu Xuan Tien, 23, who was rushed to Kon Tum General Hospital with an iron rake embedded in the back of his head, said that he and the other two officers had just entered the karaoke shop when the teenagers broke in, Tuoi Tre reported.

Doctors said the rake has seven teeth, each around 20 centimeters long, and that two of them penetrated deep into Tien's head, nearly reaching his spinal cord.

He survived because the rake's teeth did not go through his skull, they said.

His two colleagues received knife wounds to their arms, each also breaking two fingers and tearing several tendons.

The attackers have been identified as Hoang Van Phat, 19, Nguyen Thanh Dat, 16, and Ho Ngoc Nam, 18.

Investigations found the culprits' motives was romantic jealousy as the officers were accompanied by two friends including a woman who just broke up with Phat. The friends were not injured according to reports.
