Police in Japan have arrested a Vietnamese woman on suspicion of child neglect after she gave birth and left her baby girl on the street.
The 21-year-old student delivered the baby all by herself at the entrance of a stranger’s house in Tokyo on her way back from work at 2 a.m. on August 6, Japanese media cited police as saying.
A mail man found the newborn there four hours later and brought her to hospital. The baby now is in protective custody.
The woman, whose surname is Truong, is attending a vocational school in Japan’s capital and working part-time at night.
She told police that she was hiding her pregnancy and did not have money to raise a child.
