Police in Da Nang on Thursday announced that they have imposed fines on eight teenagers involved in the attack of a schoolmate last month.
A police statement said the girl who was responsible for the violent act was under 16 and would not face criminal charges.
A video of the street attack has been posted on Facebook, in which the victim was kicked and hit repeatedly with an iron cane by one of the teenagers. The others either watched or joined her.
The victim was only left alone when her shoulder started bleeding.
Police said the beating happened on an empty street in the city and the students had been involved in a fight earlier.
The exact cash fines have not been revealed. Identities of the attackers and the victim are withheld.
