Police in Hai Phong have arrested a restaurant owner for procuring poor factory workers for sex, advertising the women to clients as "clean veggies."
A source from the police said Le Thi Uyn, 50, started the business after she found out workers in the area, most of them migrants from rural areas, did not have a decent income, Cong An Nhan Dan People's Police) newspaper reported.
She persuaded a number of women to do sex work for extra money.
Uyn took a cut of 20 percent of clients’ payment, which ranged between VND300,000 and VND500,000 (US$14-23).
Police said they followed Uyn after her eatery became crowded recently, mostly with men.
Tip-offs said she was providing “clean veggies,” a code and an apparently offensive term for novice sex workers from rural areas, possibly virgins.
Police arrested Uyn after they caught two of her clients with the women in the act at a local guest house on April 11.
