Authorities in the Central Highlands province of Dak Nong on Friday arrested a police officer accused of soliciting and taking bribes from six gamblers that he had caught earlier.
Lanh Thanh Binh, an officer in Dak Mil District, allegedly received VND60 million (US$2,700) in bribes. Two of his fellow officers, Y Nam and Tran Thanh Hai, have been suspended for their involvement in the case.
On January 15, the three police officers caught a group of six locals gambling at a house in Dak Mil.
Binh then contacted their families, soliciting bribes in exchange for their release.
The relatives agreed to pay but had the whole bribe-taking act filmed.
The video was sent to his office soon after that.
The investigation continues.
