Police in the northern province of Hai Duong are seeking suspension of a police chief for allegedly gambling in his office.
Hai Duong Town’s police have proposed that the provincial police department suspend Lieutenant-colonel Pham Trung Giang, police chief of Tran Phu Ward, who was among four people in a video clip posted on the internet on February 16.
In the one-minute clip, the four in plain clothes played cards on a mat. There were some polymer bank notes on the mat.
It was later identified that Giang was one of the four men in the clip and the room they were in was his office.
Colonel Dang Van Dam, Hai Duong Town’s police chief, said those involved in the case would be punished, with no exceptions.
