A district Party unit in Ca Mau Province in southern Vietnam is seeking approval from provincial authorities to remove a member for having an extramarital relationship.
A statement from the Ngoc Hien District Party unit also asked the district chairman to dismiss Nguyen Quoc Gia from his current position as head of the district’s interior department, local media reported.
Gia, who is married with children, has been in the hot seat since a man, who is living in Ca Mau, accused him of going to a hotel with his wife in neighboring Kien Giang Province on April 30, 2015.
The man said his wife told him a day earlier she would have a medical check-up at a hospital in Kien Giang.
An investigation confirmed the accusation, but it is not clear if they had sex.
The local man in May filed for a divorce from his wife, Tien Phong reported.
