A night of heavy drinking turned out to be not so fun for the head of a state-owned business in Can Tho in who ended up in a hospital with a bleeding face.
Nguyen Van Tuyen, the head of a road management unit at state-owned Traffic Work Construction and Investment 73 in Can Tho, was admitted to Can Tho General Hospital on Wednesday night.
His shirt was reportedly soaked in blood and received several large bandages to his head.
He said he went out for a drink that night with Nguyen Thanh Long, the director of his company, and Huynh Hon Dung, the director of a similar company from Bac Lieu, a delta province, after a regular meeting.
They began at a drinking restaurant at Ninh Kieu District.
Then they went on to continue drinking at another in Binh Thuy District, where Dung and Tuyen began arguing over the background of their two companies.
At some point Dung smashed his mug of beer in Tuyen's face.
Long’s driver rushed him to hospital.
Tuyen said the attack came very suddenly.
“I’m not very clear why Dung hit me,” he said from his sickbed.
“I just remembered that he raised his glass and slapped it straight at my face. I could only my face. The blood soaked my shirt and trousers.”
Dung admitted to have beaten Tuyen during a phone call with Thanh Nien reporter on Thursday.
“But I don’t remember why that happened,” he said.
“We’re brothers in the same [system]. We’re pretty close.”
Tuyen said Dung left for Bac Lieu right from the restaurant and has not checked on him since.
