A 6-year-old in the central region's Da Nang was killed after her father set fire to their home on Saturday.
Pham Thi Diem Hang died after her father Pham Phu Len, 33, poured gas on the mattress where his wife Nguyen Thi Yen and their three daughters including a 10 and 11 year old were sleeping and set them on fire.
Len had argued with Yen when he returned home from drinking.
The family was rushed to Da Nang hospital but Hang died on the way.
The rest of the family is staying at the hospital where they remain in stable condition. Yen still needs surgery for the severe burns she suffered on her arms.
A neighbor named Nguyen Quang Hiep noticed the blaze and ran over with a mini extinguisher to help, Tuoi Tre reported Sunday.
Residents in the neighborhood have raised money to help with the funeral, as the family is poor.
Yen, a factory worker, married Len, a fisherman, nearly 12 years ago, said Yen's mother Nguyen Thi Loc.
Len usually got drunk and the couple would argue, Loc said.
Local residents said they hadn't noticed anything strange about Le on Saturday night, prior to the incident.
Police are further investigating Len's motives.
