Ben Tre police have fined a 19-year-old man for insulting traffic police on Facebook after taking pictures of a driver being chased by the traffic police on the street.
Dang Khuong Duy was fined VND2.5 million (US$120) and asked to write a commitment not to repeat his violation of insulting the police who do their duties.
At 11:30 p.m. on October 12, Duy saw traffic police officers chasing a man, who reportedly violated traffic rules.
The man later crashed his motorbike to an electricity pole, fell off his motorbike and got wounded. The chasing police officers took him to the hospital.
Duy took pictures of the incident and posted on his Facebook page several hours later with comments insulting the police.
At the police station in Phu Tan Ward, Ben Tre Town, Duy admitted to his crime, saying he posted it on Facebook page to attract “Likes”.
