Ho Chi Minh City police arrested Nguyen Dinh Quy, director of the city’s forestry agency, on Tuesday for allegedly forging documents to appropriate state funds.
Police say the arrest took place in the evening at his house on Binh Thanh District in No Trang Long Street.
During a subsequent search of his home, police say they collected evidence.
On the same day, police arrested Nguyen Thi Hoa, the agency's chief accountant and Do Hung Trang, director of the private Thuy Linh Company, according to Cong An Thanh Pho Ho Chi Minh (Ho Chi Minh City Police) newspaper.
The paper did not mention the Thuy Linh company's function, but police said Quy colluded with Hoa and Trang to forge numerous receipts for forestry-related services and pocketed hundreds of millions of dong in state funds.
Quy is 59 years old, one year younger than Vietnam’s male retirement age. His agency is an affiliate of HCMC Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.
