Police in central Vietnam on Monday said a doctor who attacked two nurses and then tried to commit suicide last month has succumbed to severe injuries.
Le Huu Doai, who worked at a clinic in Nghe An Province, was reportedly hacked the nurses with a knife before banging his head against a pillar and biting his tongue off on September 24.
Doai and the victims were rushed into Nghe An General Hospital the same day.
The doctor, 41, succumbed to serious injuries a week later, doctors said.
Police said Monday that his death means the case can be closed.
His two victims, Nguyen Thi Quynh Nga and Le Thi Dien, suffered knife cuts and have recovered.
It is believed that Doai had personal conflicts with the nurses.
