Police in the Central Highlands province of Dak Lak have detained two police officers for using a motorbike they seized from thieves seven years ago.
Investigation found that Dang Tu Quang, 51, then chief police officer of Ea Nuol Commune and Truong Cong Ha, 47, an officer, were in charge of a motorcycle theft case in February 2009.
When they were about to arrest the suspects, the group fled, leaving the bike behind.
Quang let Ha use the motorbike instead of bringing it back to the police office to look for the owner.
The act was only exposed last October. The real owner of the bike was identified soon after that.
