Border soldiers in the central province of Quang Tri reported Wednesday that they arrested four Lao men after jointly busting a gang smuggling drugs into Vietnam with the Lao police.

According to the Quang Tri's Border Soldiers Command, a joint task force caught the suspects Tuesday while they were trading drugs in Laos' Sepon District across the border from Quang Tri.

The force then confiscated 10,000 tablets of synthetic drugs from the four men - Thao Lieu, 40, Thao Pay, 40, Phem Ma, 38, and Thao Lien, 35 along with a car and some documents.

The suspects confessed to buying the drugs in Khammouane Province, transporting them to Sepon by car, and planning to smuggle them into Vietnam in cooperation with some Vietnamese.

Investigations are continuing.
