A 28-year-old woman from Dong Nai Province in southern Vietnam has been arrested on suspicion of involvement in human trafficking.

Provincial police said Saturday that Le Thi Anh Tuyet, 28, is believed to have cheated three women by promising jobs that pay thousands of dollars a month in Malaysia.

She got the women tourism or labor export visas and sold them to women traffickers in Malaysia, the police said.

What happened next to the victims has not been revealed, with the police only saying that they have been rescued.

The case is being investigated further.

Last week, police in Ho Chi Minh City had placed a man and a woman, both 29, under detention for trafficking women to Malaysian brothels.

They had cheated at least 12 women, most of them young jobseekers from poor families in the Mekong Delta. But police have not managed to rescue all of them.
