The Hanoi police said Wednesday they have arrested a taxi driver for allegedly hitting two officers who tried to stop her for violating traffic laws.

According to the Ha Dong District police, another officer was also injured when he and others chased after Nguyen Thi Xiem, 27.

On Tuesday a group of traffic police officers signaled Xiem to pull over after spotting her flouting road rules.

But she ignored them and, in fact, drove straight into them, hitting two of the officers who were flung on to the windscreen, cracking it and breaking the wipers.

She did not stop even then, prompting other officers and the public to pursue her.
