The American pilot of rubber and property tycoon Doan Nguyen Duc died Monday night in a bar in Ho Chi Minh City.

Hoang Anh Gia Lai Group, of which Duc is chairman, Tuesday confirmed to Thanh Nien the death of Ryan Dale Losser.

Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper quoted the company as saying that the man was drinking beer and playing darts with his Philippine girlfriend and some Vietnam Airlines pilots on Bui Vien Street in District 1 when he suddenly collapsed and died before an ambulance arrived.

His body has been kept at the HCMC Forensic Center for handing over to his family.

Duc said HAGL would take care of the formalities required to send the body to the US.

Duc is the first Vietnamese to own an airplane.

US embassy and consulate officials were not immediately available for comments.
