The Hanoi police have arrested an employee of state-owned cable TV operator Vietnam Television Corporation (VTC) and another man for allegedly buying six stolen motorbikes, Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper reported.

Nguyen Thanh Tung, 29, an editor based in Hanoi, and Nguyen Quyet, 26, from the neighboring province of Ha Nam will be investigated for trading stolen properties.

They were caught after lending their latest alleged purchase last week, a stolen Air Blade, to Nguyen Van Dat, 24, who was pulled over by Hanoi traffic police officers.

After pulling Dat over for flouting traffic regulations on Pham Hung Street, the traffic police handed over the case to their social crimes investigation counterparts on suspicion the vehicle was a stolen one.

They arrested Tung on August 14 after taking Quyet in earlier.

The two told the police that Tuyen would tell them over phone to buy stolen motorbikes, news website VOV reported. After the purchases, they would then use fake license plates and registration papers to pawn them.

The police are looking for Tuyen.

Investigators said the gang had bought six stolen motorbikes in all.

Quyet has once been jailed for robbery, VOV reported.
