Police in Hanoi announced Monday that they had arrested three teenagers for selling three women into prostitution in China.

In the first case, Nguyen An Khang, 19, and Nguyen Van Chien, 18, were accused of cheating Nguyen Thi Kieu T., 35, whom they met last year end and promised a job.

On January 30 this year, they took T. to where they said they had a job for her.

But they then took her to China, where they sold her for VND16 million (US$756).

The duo used the same scheme to send Nguyen Thi Q. to China and sold her into prostitution for VND4 million ($189).

Police said they discovered the case because T. had managed to escape to Vietnam and informed them.

In the other case, Pham Thi Ha, 17, used the same scheme to cheat Nguyen Thi H., 35, and sold her in China for VND30 million ($1,400).

H. has been rescued by Hanoi police in cooperation with Chinese forces.

Both cases are being investigated further.
