The government has issued a resolution simplifying over 258 administrative procedures at ministries and localities.
The government has asked the Ministry of Finance to simplify 61 procedures, 41 of which are related to customs.
The simplification of the other 20 procedures in the tax field is mainly to allow businesses to use their own invoices printed in accordance with the finance ministry's regulations, according to the resolution.
Only newly-established businesses and small ones that can't print their own invoices are required to use the ministry-issued invoices, it said.
In an interview with local news website VnExpress early this year, Nguyen Xuan Phuc, head of the Government Office, said that Vietnam can save more than VND6 trillion (US$320 million) if it can reduce 256 out of over 5,700 administrative procedures in effect.
The initial simplification is part of the second stage of Project No.30, which aims to simplify administrative procedures between 2007 and 2010.
The first stage, which targeted the publishing of a national database of administrative procedures was successfully completed last year, according to Phuc.
