A court in Ho Chi Minh City on Tuesday sentenced a Vietnamese-Australian woman to 20 years in jail for attempting to bring 377 grams of heroin to Australia.
Police at Tan Son Nhat International Airport arrested Lam Thi Kim Hong Hanh, 38, on December 2, 2014 when she was checking in for a flight to Australia.
They found she had hidden the heroin in her vagina.
Hanh said some Vietnamese in Australia hired her to smuggle heroin from their contacts in Vietnam and promised to pay her 5,000 Australian dollars each time.
She said he did not have any information of the Vietnamese that hired her as well as those giving her the drug in Vietnam.
