Police in the northern province of Lao Cai have handed over a Chinese man wanted for murder and robbery in China to the Chinese police, An ninh Thu do (Capital Security) newspaper reported Wednesday.

Manh Sieu, 30, was arrested October 13 at a hotel, where the police found him with a Chinese woman, Vuong Dan, 23, the news website said.

They had been staying at the hotel as a married couple since earlier this month, but rarely left their room, causing suspicion among hotel staff.

Dan has also been handed over to the Hekou County police who had sought the help of the Vietnamese police after losing track of Sieu at the border between Lao Cai and Hekou.

The website quoted the Chinese police as saying that Sieu, who once served in the military, shot and injured police officers after committing a murder and robbery.

Both Sieu and Dan are from Hubei Province.
