Authorities in the southeastern province of Binh Phuoc are considering punishing a Party official for building his house partially on public land.

Based on complaints by local residents, the Party unit of Dong Xoai town, the provincial capital, found Nguyen Cong Ly, chief of the town Party Inspection Committee, had built a six-meter-wide concrete bridge inside the compound over a stream and encroached on 72 square meters of land plot serving as a corridor protecting the stream.

People living near the stream had complained about Ly's illegal construction to the Inspection Committee, but Ly ignored them and continued building until it was reported to his superiors.
