Authorities in the Mekong Delta province of Tien Giang on Tuesday stripped a commune Party vice secretary of his title and rebuked several other Party members for having used fake high school diplomas.
Nguyen Van Giup was dismissed as vice secretary of the Party unit of My Trung Commune in Cai Be District, the news website VnExpress reported.
Tran Huu Phuoc, the commune police chief, and his deputy Le Van Thuong were rebuked, as was Le Hoang Rac, the chairman of the commune Party unit's inspection commission.
They were found submitting fake copies of high school diplomas among other documents recently submitted as part of applications to receive pay increases, promotions and educational opportunities.
Tran Van Hoang, vice chairman of the commune, was also rebuked for certifying the diploma copies of Phuoc and Thuong without checking the original documents.
