More than 300 motorbikes and one car were burned to ashes and frames after a parking lot in Ho Chi Minh City went up in flames Saturday, allegedly due to a neighbor burning garbage.
Fire police said thst 70 percent of the parking lot of around 1,080 square meters on Cao Lo Street, District 8, caught ablaze and went up in smoke completely.
Police managed to save 50 motorbikes and the lot’s staffs and local residents rescued ten others when the fire had just begun.
Fire police in District 8 arrived with seven trucks and had to ask for assistance from their colleagues in District 1 as the fire got large and collapsed part of the roofing.
The fire was put out after around 40 minutes at 2:30 p.m.
Nguyen Manh Tuan, a fire police officer from District 8, said some eyewitnesses reported that a person had burned garbage near the parking lot and the fire had spread.
Police are looking for that person, Tuan said.
