Environmental police from the Ministry of Public Security on Monday fined a Ho Chi Minh City paper recycling firm US$6,000 for polluting the environment.

Officials found Hong Loi Production and Commerce Company, Ltd. in the city's Tan Phu District discharging wastewater with higher levels of pollutants than permitted.

Environmental police asked the company to collect and treat its waste better, and remove the pump and pipes used to release the untreated sewage directly into the environment.
