The Border Guard Intermediate School 24 in Hanoi is the only school under the Vietnam People’s Army to train service dog coaches at primary and intermediate levels.
The school also brings up service dogs to directly take part in search and rescue activities, to help people in cases of natural disasters, to help border guards fight criminals at border areas and help police in criminal investigations.
The school’s headquarters is based in Ba Vi District’s Vat Lai Commune. It also has teams at five locations in border areas across the country to take charge of emergency tasks given by the Ministry of National Defense and the Border Guard’s High Command.
Service dogs and their coachers are trained at all kinds of terrain. Particularly, the dogs have become familiar with the sounds of military weapons such as grenade and guns.
