A Da Nang court has sentenced the owner of a beverage shop to 11 years in jail for causing the death of a customer who complained about his high prices.
Two men who helped Nguyen Thanh Truong, 32, carry out the attack get 10 and 11 years, local media reported.
Luan, then 20, a tourist from the neighboring Quang Nam Province, and his friends stopped by Truong’s sugarcane juice shop one night in August 2014.
Truong charged VND8,000 (37 US cents) for a glass and Luan complained that it was higher than at other shops in the city.
Luan and Truong had an argument before the group paid and left.
But Truong did not intend to finish there.
He asked his friends Pham Minh Tuan and Ngo Ha Cong Ly, both in their 20s, to find the group to take revenge.
Tuan beat Luan before driving his motorbike straight into him.
Ly kicked him on the face after he fell.
Luan died on the spot of brain injuries, but Tuan and Ly left without checking.
The court also ordered the three defendants to pay the victim’s family VND110 million ($5,050) in compensation.
