The director of a hospital in Bac Ninh Province has been suspended for cursing at and threatening reporters, allegedly while under the influence of alcohol.
On Wednesday, 300 workers from the DHA Apparel Company based in Bac Ninh’s Luong Tai District were hospitalized for food poisoning.
When reporters from local newspapers and websites arrived at the Luong Tai District General Hospital, Pham Van Phan, the hospital’s director went into a furious tirade.
Phan threatened to beat them and prevented them from doing their jobs.
His actions were witnessed by many patients and their families.
Reporters say he reeked of alcohol.
After a video clip of Phan's tirade was released online, the provincial Department of Health temporarily suspended Phan at the request of Health Minister Nguyen Thi Kim Tien.
Phan has reportedly been asked to prepare a report on his actions.
One of his deputies has been assigned to take over his post until the provincial Health Department decides his final punishment.
