Authorities handed over five Filipinos rescued at sea by a Vietnamese fisherman to their nation's embassy in Hanoi Thursday.

The five -- Asadin Taha, 18, Richard Pay Matiaong, 23, Rodney S. Mantinez, 19, Isny Boy Diaz, 20, and Will Diaz, 30 -- were found rescued on December 26 by Nguyen Van Hiep of Khanh Hoa Province who reached shore more than 20 days later.

He found them in their boat, which had broken down after an accident, without food or fuel.

He took them on board after they decided to abandon their vessel.
