Bui Tuyet Minh has attained the highest rank ever in the police force by a woman officer major general.
The 51-year-old director of the Kien Giang Province police department received the order signed by Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung from Minister of Public Security General Tran Dai Quang in Hanoi Saturday.
Quang said the promotion marks the appreciation for Minh's devotion to security and protecting social order by the Party, government, and people.
Minh, a native of Kien Giang who joined the police at the age of 19, was also the first woman to become the director of a provincial or city police department when she took over her current job in 2011.
