Customs in the northern city of Hai Phong Thursday found between 200-300 kilograms of elephant tusks on a ship from Tanzania, which is located in East Africa.
The tusks were kept together with iron scraps in a 40-feet high container that arrived at Hai Phong port early last month, customs said.
According its waybill, the container was stated to carry rubber and was to be received by Tien Hoang Co. Ltd., based in the northern province of Quang Ninh.
However, the company refused to receive the goods after the discovery, Tuoi Tre reported.
Customs said the tusks would be inspected further within the next few days.
Meanwhile, the case is still under investigation.
